Natto - Fermented Soybeans

Natto is a traditional Japanese food made from fermented soybeans. It has a very strong smell and forms a lot of sticky thin strings when it is stirred. Natto should be stirred well, then mixed with soy sauce, a little mustard and chopped Japanese onions. It is usually eaten with rice. To serve, pour it on top of hot white rice.
